WHAT IS TELLYBEAN?

Tellybean is a video call service for TVs and mobile. With Tellybean you and your family can share life-sized video call moments on your TV.

 

WHAT DEVICES ARE COMPATIBLE?

Tellybean is compatible with the following devices

  • Selected Android TV devices, such as Sony and Philips Smart TVs and Nvidia Shield set-top boxes
  • LG Smart TVs running webOS 3.0 and above (2016 and after)
  • Android mobile devices
  • iOS mobile devices

WHERE CAN I GET TELLYBEAN?

To use Tellybean on your phone or TV download the app to your TV, mobile.

  • Android TV or Android mobiles from the Google Play Store
  • LG Smart TV’s from the LG Content Store
  • iOS devices from the App Store

CAN I USE A WEBCAM WITH TELLYBEAN ON TV?

No, you can’t. Most Smart TVs do not support webcams. Therefore Tellybean has developed an innovative way around this limitation. The Tellybean video calling app on Android and iOS phones or tablets turns your mobile phone into a wireless webcam for video calls on the TV. You will need to have Tellybean app installed on both TV and mobile device to make TV video calls.

IS THE WEBCAM FEATURE AVAILABLE FOR IOS?
 

Yes, the webcam app feature is available for iOS devices. To connect your iPhone with your TV your phone need to be connected to the same WiFi network. Once you are on a Tellybean call with your mobile, you will see a TV icon. When you click the TV icon and select your TV. You will then see the incoming call on the TV.

CAN I USE A WEBCAM ON THE NVIDIA SHIELD?

Currently the webcam feature is not available on Nvidia Shield Android TV. We hope to enable webcam support for Nvidia Shield users soon. Until then you can use your iOS or Android mobile phone as a wireless webcam.

HOW DO I CONNECT MY TV APP WITH THE MOBILE APP?

To start, your TV and your phone need to be connected to the same WiFi network. Once you are on a Tellybean call with your mobile, you will see a TV icon. When you click the TV icon and select your TV. You will then see the incoming call on the TV.

If it is the first time using Tellybean on your TV, install the app and then do as explained above.

CAN I USE TELLYBEAN VIDEO CALLING ON A MOBILE PHONE?

Yes, you can make video calls to all your Tellybean contacts using your Android or iOS mobile phone.

CAN I USE TELLYBEAN WITH MY COMPUTER?

No. Currently Tellybean is not supported on computers. Tellybean works on your Android and iOS mobile devices.

HOW DO I INVITE OTHERS TO TELLYBEAN?

You can invite others to join Tellybean directly from the Tellybean app on your mobile device. Press “invite” in the contact list.

WHY CAN´T I SEE MY FRIENDS IN MY CONTACT LIST?

In the Tellybean app you can send invites to any of your friends in your phone’s contact list, as long as you have their mobile phone number. After your friend has downloaded the Tellybean app and logged in on their phone, they will automatically appear as one of your contacts.

If you still don’t see your friend, make sure that you have the same mobile phone number saved on your phone as they used for logging in to Tellybean.

WHAT DO I DO IF I AM NOT ABLE TO CONNECT TO TELLYBEAN?

Make sure you have data connection. Please make sure that your firewall or network connection is not blocking UDP traffic.

THE APP HAS BEEN UPDATED, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO USE TELLYBEAN AGAIN?

The new update will break compatibility for previous versions of the Tellybean
app. Therefore you will need to:

  • Update the Tellybean apps on your TV
  • Uninstall the Tellybean Camera App as it no longer needed
  • Download/update the Tellybean app on you phone and sign in
  • Tell your friends to also update their apps and sign in
  • Once you and your friends are logged in to the new apps, you will automatically see each other as available contacts
  • Be sure to have the same number for your friend stored in your phone’s contact list as the one they used to log in with

HOW TO MAKE TELLYBEAN CALLS ON LG TVS?

If you can see your LG TV (WebOS 3.0 and above) in the Tellybean mobile app, but still cannot connect to your TV during a Tellybean video call, please 

With LG Connect Apps enabled and your TV and mobile on the same networks, you should be able to connect to your TVs during a video call.
